The Average Salaries for Professional Nannies, around the World
When we speak to clients considering employing a nanny for their family, understandably one of the initial queries raised is that of expenditure. Whilst salaries for professional nannies can vary greatly according to experience, calibre and conditions of employment, we have included an indication of nanny salaries below, based on our recent candidates and placements, as well as including other factors you may wish to consider when employing a nanny for your family.
We refer to the relative salaries of ‘live in’ and ‘live out’ positions throughout this guide and, if you’re unfamiliar with the terms, a daily nanny, also known as a ‘live-out nanny’, is an experienced childcare professional who comes to a family's home at set hours to perform their duties, but goes back to their own residence in the evenings. They may occasionally be asked to babysit or travel with the family.
A ‘live-in’ nanny, on the other hand, is provided with their own living quarters by the family and may be more frequently asked to babysit and travel with the family as well. Both types of nannies have the same responsibilities, which include caring for children, overseeing daily activities, supervising homework, preparing meals, keeping rooms clean, and laundry. Additionally, they may focus on teaching language skills appropriate for the children's age.
If you’re unsure of the category of nanny that may be the best fit for your family’s needs, do take a read through our Nannies pages, or call our team to discuss your queries - we’d be very happy to work with you to find the ideal fit for your family.

Other Financial Aspects to Consider
Whilst the salary levels of your chosen candidate will be the most impactful financial aspect to consider, there are other aspects that ought to be borne in mind.
If you are looking to employ a live-out nanny, it may be your responsibility to finance their external accommodation, and for international placements, it is the client's responsibility to handle all immigration procedures, taxes, social security, and medical insurance.
Agencies also will have their charges for successful placements - for example, Nannies Incorporated levy a fee on all successful candidates placed, and these fees can be reviewed on our dedicated Fees page.
